On Tuesday, 26th of March 2019, an internet scammer popularly known as “Yahoo Boy” was sentenced to prison. 

Emmanuel Idemudia, an internet scammer faced judgement of his illegal act at a High Court in Maitama, Abuja. 

According to reports from Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Idemudia created an email account profile in the name, King alberto, impersonating a male Caucasian with email id ‘kingalberto55@gmail.com’.

Reports from EFCC states that Emmanuel Idemudia opened the account in order to deceive and lure one Mrs Linda Jones to deliver money to him. 

Justice Yusuf Halilu, the judge who handled the case, sentenced him to one month in Suleja prison after Emmanuel Idemudia pleaded guilty of the charge. 

Meanwhile, the trend of being a Yahoo Boy seems to be on the rise in the country.
