Eye-shadow palettes can be simultaneously scary and beautiful. The
combination of metallic and matte shadows can be pleasing to the eyes but the
thought of not applying it properly can literally put people off.
So
many persons I believe buy eye-shadow palettes ranging from; matte, shimmery,
glossy, metallic, and, whatever product out there with the hope of slaying
the hell out of those shadows and probably looking like a movie star when they
step out. But once they see the process and effort needed in blending
eye-shadows and making them look neat, they abandon the whole different
palettes they purchased and probably settle for the matte shadow... even going
down to applying just one shade form the palette.
Eye-shadows
not blended properly can come off as a baby's color book; making one resemble a
clown which is awful to look at.
Before
you go ahead and swap in those beautiful shades of eye-shadows you bought, you
might want to read this.
Firstly,
I'd advice anyone who wants to combine different shades of eye-shadows to do
their eye makeup first. Do your eye makeup before going in with the face makeup
--- #foundation&co.
Now,
if you really have time on your hands and still want to do the whole eye-shadow
routine, here are five easy steps to achieving a perfectly blended eye-shadow.
Priming
the eyelids before applying eye-shadows can act as an eye-shadow holder
enabling the products dabbed in to stay in place all day.
I
start applying my primer from the inner eyelids close to my lashes and blend
out (fade out) moving upwards to the crease of my eyelids and arc of my brows.
However,
a primer can well be replaced with a concealer or foundation of your choice as
a primer is not a necessity to giving a perfectly blended eye-shadow.
2. Get Your Brushes Ready.
Now,
the tool used to move those beautiful shades of eye-shadow from it's palette to
your eyelids are known as eye-shadow brush.
It
is a thing of joy knowing that this method has evolved and almost everyone has
one or two eye-shadow brush in their makeup bag.
3.
Start Light.
If
you plan on using more than one shade, it is important to start with the
lighter shade, then gradually build in with a darker shade. The lighter shade
here acts as a transition color.
4.
Blend Like A Pro.
After
laying the lighter color, you have to blend it in before moving on to the next
shade.
Using the motion of a car wipe, blend the shadow along the crease
to soften the edges and give off a seamless look.
Next up, apply another shade, using a different brush if another
brush is available. Make sure you start at the outer crease of your eyelids the
blend in.
Now, holding your brush the perfect way, would give you a perfect
result. Most persons hang on to their eyeshadow brush too tightly therefore
making the process of applying the eyeshadow a little bit difficult and elongates
the whole process.
The perfect way to hold an eyeshadow brush is the same way you hold
on to your pen when writing --- Casual, light and able to move from one end to
the other.
Also, a very good tip to blending your shadows like a pro is to
calmly and lightly pat on a shade to a particular position in the eyelid you
desire it to be.
Avoid packing too much product into our brush as this would come
off too harsh when applied….. making the whole process too difficult and
stressful to blend out.
Therefore, go light, and gently apply more if need be.
5.
Clean Up Mistakes.
After
the whole eye-shadow process, there are bound to be mistakes... mistakes that
might occur from excess blending, eye shadows extending to some areas of your
face which you wouldn't like...
Taking
your face wipe, you should gently clean up those mistakes to give room for
other products which you would want to put on.
This
reason is why doing the eye-shadow routine should come first before going in
with other face products.... as the other face products helps to clean up and
set the eye shadow into perfect place and mix.
