Life Lately- Detty December| No Detty December| December Review| Happy To Be Home
By Nneka Olisa - December 31, 2019
Two days to vacate for the Christmas holidays from my place of primary assignment in Agbor, Delta State, I went over the general hospital to hang out with some friends I had come to enjoy their company. While I was at ones’office, I developed a slight headache and quickly excused myself as I thought that the ceiling fan must have caused the sudden change of temperature.
So I left there, returned home, and thereafter, I was really sick. I was burning with fever - my head was on the verge of falling off due to the killer headache with literally no appetite of any sort. I got drugs for myself, but with no much relief as my body doesn’t respond to drugs except an Injection is administered followed up by drugs. So while others were in a jubilee mood, I was busy downing the drugs and hoping to get better.
It didn’t do any much work. So on Thursday I packed up my bags and headed for home. Grateful to God I was able to make it home in one piece. Later on in the evening, I and my mom went to the clinic, some tests were carried out which included a malaria, typhoid and Full blood count test; which came out as a Malaria ++ and an indication I had Typhoid. Immediately treatment commenced and I was given injections for three consecutive days. Later, some drugs were given to me with strict prescription to follow. That was the moment I started to regain most of my sanity. So while others were spending money on fun stuff, I was spending mine on consultation fee and drugs.
Recovery process |
Still, the illness didn’t deter me from witnessing a family fun and contented Christmas. So 2 days till Christmas I was fully recovered, visited a friend and had an amazing time. There was no cash to throw around as other important matters came first. So I spent the rest of my holiday chilling with family, surfing the net, and perfecting my sewing skills.
In all it was not the way I planned to spend my Christmas. I had a bunch of ideas; go to the cinema, hang out with friends at a new spot in town, create amazing memories with family and spoil myself a little. But they say “things do not always go the way it’s planned.” Therefore, I can’t come and kill my self. Better days ahead that is what I solemnly believe.
It was not a detty December for me instead it was littered with other matters. Hope you had a fun Christmas at least a more fun time than I did.
