Blogger's Happening: My Alcohol Adventure

Alcohol is not bad, I know. Believe me I know. In fact some persons see it as a necessity in their lives in order to communicate properly or be tagged social as the case may be.

Having known this, and not a regular alcohol consumer, I've always had my shield up when it comes to its consumption.

If I recall properly, the first time I got drunk was in level 100 in University.

After lectures, a friend back then was having a birthday party and I decided to drop by his house.

As a fresher in school, - with no knowledge of how alcohol would work on my system, I initially rejected every cup of alcohol handed to me on that day. Well, not every cup because I later got tipsy/drunk.

It was an in house celebration... a one-room apartment filled with loud music and few friends. Everyone was drinking and feeling good, probably they were in high spirits as the case may be.

Been a calm person, and not too social, I found a cool place to seat in order to have a perfect view of the dancing individuals……

I have a thing for chocolate... anything that tastes and smells like chocolate, I'd be eager to have a taste of it. So there came the game changer of the day.

I can't recall the name of that drink but, mann, it smelt like chocolate and I wanted to have a taste.

The red party cup; half-filled with drink was handed to me and the smell of chocolate filled my nose. With a curious mind, I wanted to know what it tasted like.

Moving it towards my lip, I had a second thought of what I was about to do.

“Is it okay to take alcohol in a room filled with strange faces??”

My sixth sense questioned. I guess I was in no mood to listen to that voice on that particular day.

It touched my tongue and it tasted divine. I was impressed that it didn't have the sour-bitter taste normal alcohols have. Little did I know that the sweeter the drink, the more I'd want, and, when I consumed more, I got a little bit tipsy - till I was eventually there.

Looking back, I won't say I had much to drink. A regular alcohol drinker would probably consume more than I did but seeing that it was my first real time of taking a real shot of alcohol, my body having not been accustomed to such reacted immediately.

While the room was still filled with loud music, happy people and free buzz - University students live for free buzz legitimately. Lol. I was on my own planet, struggling with a wavy head and unsteady foot. I virtually didn't see myself slump on the mattress (pheew! Thank God it was a mattress) which was placed on the floor and my friend rushed to my side. It felt like the whole building was upside down and everybody was rotated in some way.

The thought of it presently is funny and part of the memories created in school..., but then, it was horrible. Luckily for me, with the help of some persons present, I was taken care of and I felt rejuvenated the following day.

Now, five years later after my first encounter with alcohol I plunged into another episode.

Prior to this day, I always knew my limit and if I find myself in a social environment, I insisted on the kind of drink to take.
 I would always say;

“I’m more of a wine person.”

The reason I always opt for a bottle of wine is everyone would eventually want to partake not just sipping all the drunkenness of a full bottle of beer.

On a cool April evening, I decided to step out of the house to hang out with my friend. It was a great day! Lots of gist, laughter, jokes and all of that was flying in the air between us…

The day was eventually coming to an end and we decided to call it a day by hanging at a bar and sipping on something light.

Still sticking to my alcohol consumption rule; no bitter alcohol taste, not more than a glass, and definitely not a beer, my partner in crime suggested we go for a bitter sweet drink and that was when the waitress brought on the drink “Don-Simon.”

This particular drink, I’ve seen on the shelves of so many superstores and mini-stores and I’ve never wondered how it tasted because sincerely, I’m not an alcohol thinker. I was never opportune to know what it tasted like till this day.

We were in a bit of a merry mood. Alcohol was been sipped into the system and I was pretty sure I was getting into a more high-spirited self.

Laughing, exchanging jokes and being all merry, I knew I was a bit gone. I managed to get myself home that very evening.

I usually just mind my business on a regular day when out and about. In fact my friend once tags me as miss anti-social but this day was no regular day.

I boarded a vehicle home, and was all cheesy with the driver, laughing and all. Quite hilarious the thought is now.

With staggered feet, swaying head and tipsy eyes, I landed home. Headed straight for my room and laid on my bed with my front view.
.
And that was when it all started…..
