According to reports, a 16-year-old boy identified as Chibuzo Ohaneme, is currently withheld for murdering his female classmate, Olamma Ekwebelem in Umuoli Ikpem in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State. 

A source from the village told City Round that Ohaneme got angry and infuriated over time as Ekwebelem repeatedly turned down his relationship proposal to her. 

The source said, 

“The boy and the girl are classmates and of the same age. The boy had repeatedly asked her out but she consistently turned him down.” 

The source also said that the girl (Ekwebelem) had reported the boy’s advances to her parents, who reprimanded him but he kept on persisting. 

Getting frustrated with the girl’s frequent turn downs, the boy ambushed the girl and stabbed her to death. 

Meanwhile, the community was about to set his fathers’ house on fire when the police intervened. 

Orlando Ikeokwu, the police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the incident stating that the suspect has been arrested, and, been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Owerri, alongside the case file for further investigation
