WHY I REJECTED FIVE (5) BILLS FROM THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY - PRESIDENT BUHARI

It is no news that President Muhammadu Buhari love to take things into consideration before assenting to any decision.

Anyways, on Wednesday he declined assenting to five bills from the National Assembly.

The newly rejected bills included:

Nigerian Film Corporation Bill, Immigration (Amendment) Bill, Climate Change Bill, Chartered Institute Of Pension Practitioners Bill and Digital Rights and Freedom Bill.

Opening up on why he didn't assent to signing the bills, President Buhari said:

"I refused assent on the Immigration Bill because it would have adverse effect on Nigeria's position on the ease of doing business ranking if signed into law."

" The Chartered Institute of Pension Practitioners Bill amounted to duplication of function with an existing institute" 

"Also, conflicting and duplication of duties of existing government agencies, their destructive nature, as well as lack of clarity in other bills."


The bills were declined on Wednesday in a letter sent to Senate President Bukola Saraki which was read at plenary.
