"Nigeria Was Denied Loans By Some International Bodies Because Of The Farmers-Herdsmen Crisis" - Lai Mohammed

The popular Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed recently disclosed that foreign bodies had denied Nigerian Government loans.

Lai Mohammed said Nigerian Government was denied series of loan by International bodies and this was because of the misinformation surrounding the farmers and herdsmen crisis in the country.

On Thursday, while addressing the House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Value, the Minister of Information and Culture told the house that the Nation has been denied loans from foreign bodies and narrated how he and other personnel's had to go an extra mile to clearing the perspectives the international bodies had concerning the matter.

"I remember that in 2018 we made two trips to the UK and two trips to the US, and these two trips helped tremendously in actually helping the people in the Diaspora and foreign governments to understand the real dynamics of the herdsmen/farmers clashes."

"Until we got there, the impression held by many of them was that the thing was Christians/Muslims, North/South and that time we had to book for interviews with CNN, BBC, Aljazeera, Reuters and AFP. I think it is an important part of governance so that if you cannot mold their opinions, at least it can give them the opportunity of hearing our own side of the story." Lai Mohammed said.

Meanwhile, he said it's the duty of the Ministry of Information in the country to dissuade such perspective about the country and to put the country in a positive light.
