Buildings Burnt Down By Fire In Lagos, 2 Injured

The residents of Orile-Agege area of Lagos are in disspear as they witnessed their properties been consumed by fire yesterday.


An explosion rocked Orile-Agege area of Lagos yesterday, leaving two persons injured, while buildings and shops, including property worth several millions of naira, were destroyed.

According to resident's report, the tragedy occurred after a high tension wire snapped and landed on one of the buildings which had a cooking gas in it.


Residents in the surrounding, some who were asleep, were in shock and immediately found a medium for escape as they heard the explosion.

Some of them sustained injuries in their bid to find an escape and ot be engulfed in the raging fire.

They are appealing to the state government to aid them with a place for accommodation pending to when they'd raise enough money to rent a home for themselves.

One of the resident, Saidu Mohammed said he lost everything he had laboured for the past eight years. Nothing was left of my property as the fire burnt them all. He also cried that the money he was asked to pay in to the bank on behalf of the company where he worked was also lost in the fire.


"I could not salvage anything from the fire. The most painful aspect is that the money I was supposed to pay into the bank yesterday (Monday), on behalf of my company, got burnt. “I could not pay because the bank had closed. My intention was to pay it in today(yesterday), only for the unthinkable to happen."

Some other residents and shop owners also lamented and said this was indeed a tragedy as they've lost all their hard work and effort.

It has been reported that two persons, a boy and a woman who sustained major injuries are been admitted in a hospital.
