Acting President, Osibanjo Host Pupils, Visit Abuja Market

By Nneka Olisa - May 27, 2017

Acting President, Yemi Osibanjo yesterday in his office received some students and later visited the Garki Model Market in Abuja where he interacted with traders for 40 minutes.
His spokesman, Laolu Akande, said it was part of activities marking the second anniversary of President Muhammed Buhari's administration.

Most of the traders Osibanjo interacted with complained about the high cost of shops which they said was not within their reach. One of them, Nasiru Kiryfi, said the management of the market was yet to complete the shops for which traders paid several years ago.

Osibanjo, who was accompanied by the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Aisha Abubakar, asked the traders to keep the prices of goods affordable, especially during the Ramadan.

The acting president Aldo asked the traders and other Nigerians to go into farming, saying, "The more we farm, the more the cost of products will come down."

His spokesman, Akande, said he visited the market "to feel the pulse of Nigerians, hear directly from the people, have one-on-one conversation with them and assure them that the administration is committed to improving the economy."
